Professor Richard Gilbertson

Richard Gilbertson trained as a paediatric oncologist in the UK before moving in 2000 to St Jude Children’s Research Hospital, USA where he served as Scientific and Comprehensive Cancer Centre Director, Executive Vice President and Lillian R Cannon Endowed Chair.  In August 2015, he moved back home to England where he is Li Ka Shing Chair of Oncology and Head of Department of Oncology at the University of Cambridge, Director of the Cancer Research UK Cambridge Centre and Senior Group Leader at the Cancer Research UK Cambridge Institute. His laboratory research is focused on understanding the link between normal development and the origins of cancer, particularly brain tumours.


Professor Jean Abraham

Theme co-lead: Professor Jean Abraham 

Jean Abraham is Professor of Precision Breast Cancer Medicine and an Honorary Consultant in Medical Oncology at the University of Cambridge. She directs the Precision Breast Cancer Institute and co-leads the Integrated Cancer Medicine theme in the Cancer Research UK Cambridge Centre. She is Chief Investigator of eight national/regional trials. She is a member of the National Clinical Studies Group for Breast Cancer and has advised NICE on breast cancer therapeutics and the House of Commons Select Committee on Genomics. Jean’s research aims to develop innovative clinical trials in high risk and hereditary early stage breast cancers; and to use multi-modal data integration to develop predictive and prognostic tools to provide individualised treatment strategies for breast cancer patients to improve clinical outcomes.
