Working with the media
Please ensure that the BRC Communications team is made aware of all planned press releases as soon as possible, even if another organisation is leading on the story. We will ensure that the NIHR is notified, and that they are correctly acknowledged – and we can share the story across BRC channels once the story is published.
Press releases
If you are preparing a press release for your research, you must inform the NIHR Cambridge BRC Communications team at least 14 days in advance.
If your press release is being written by someone else (for example a communications team from the university, and NHS trust or a funding body) please put them in touch with the BRC communications team as soon as possible.
All press releases related to BRC-funded or supported research must include:
- an acknowledgement of NIHR support,
- notes to editors (including the patient data statement, if relevant)
and
- a disclaimer
For example wording please visit this page on our website. You can also find out on this page more about NIHR branding and creating accessible documents for people using assistive technology.
Consent for filming and photography
If you wish to film, photograph or interview research participants or members of staff to use on communication materials, they must first give their written consent.
Please contact your organisation’s communications department for the required consent forms or contact cuh.brccomms@nhs.net.
The participant must also receive a copy for their records so they know who to get in touch with if they wish to withdraw their consent.
