NIHR Cambridge BRC PPIE Funding call
PPIE Activity: NIHR Cambridge BRC
NIHR Cambridge BRC-associated early career researchers are invited to apply for up to £1000.00 to support inclusive PPIE activity intended to support development of a competitive funding award from a recognised funding body.
Eligibility
Applications must:
– Be submitted by an early career researcher from CUH, University of Cambridge or affiliated partners such as CPFT, ARU or UEA
– Be aligned to an NIHR Cambridge BRC theme
– Specify which grant funder and call the funded PPIE will support
– Outline how the funding will support specific PPIE activity
– Identify one or more specific communities of focus relevant to the BRC
– Detail intended PPIE and inclusivity activities and approaches
The funding cannot be used to support PPIE for a project that has already received funding or PPIE activity that should be funded through alternative BRC theme resources.
Application process
Applicants are encouraged to discuss their eligibility with the BRC Capacity Development and PPIE teams to ensure that applications are within remit.
If eligible, applicants complete a short form containing information about the proposed project, funding body/grant call, target community(ies) and PPIE plans.
Applications are reviewed by the Capacity development and PPIE team on a rolling basis, and applicants can expect an outcome and feedback within two weeks of submitting an eligible application.
Where applications are within remit but not of suitable detail or quality, feedback and support will be given.
Funding remit
This award is intended to support PPIE activity in the development of a competitive funding proposal.
It can be used to cover:
- Honoraria/involvement payments for public contributors attending PPIE
activities relevant to the development of the specified funding application - Reimbursement of relevant expenses incurred by public contributors involved in
- PPIE activities relevant to the development of the specified funding application
- Payments/expenses to community groups or leaders supporting the
development of the specified funding application - Expenses related to PPIE events/activities relevant to the specified funding
application (such as room hire, purchase of refreshments etc)
It cannot be used to cover:
- Engagement or dissemination activities related to an ongoing or concluded
research project (such a journal fees, travel to conferences or the development
of patient-facing materials or communications) - Payments for ongoing PPIE activities or roles that will continue after the awarding
of funds (such as payments to public co-applicants or PPIE groups) - Activities, events or other expenses not related to PPIE or the specified grant (for
example training for the applicant, wider stakeholder events)
Governance
Successful applicants will be required to provide a summary of costs incurred and an update on the submission of the funding application and its outcome. Successful applicants will also be asked to contribute to the production of a case study sharing their key learnings from the PPIE activity and a showcase of successful applicants.
